This update brings a significant expansion of the genealogy database, with nearly 400 new individuals, over hundreds of new source entries and media files, and four new blog posts under “Featured Stories” that have been released every 2-4 weeks since the last update in May 2025. Most additions are tied to an ongoing surname-mapping project for the Domenici family across Bagni di Lucca, with newly documented connections spanning Benabbio, Limano, San Cassiano di Controne, and several smaller villages, such as Boveglio and Brandeglio. Highlights include:
Nearly 400 new individuals added, primarily from Benabbio, Limano, and San Cassiano di Controne, with select additions from Brandeglio and Boveglio.
- Benabbio: newly added surnames include Cianelli, Domenici, Franceschi, Giuliani, Giusti, Marchi, Michelini.
- Limano: newly added surnames include Angeli, Bacci, Bartolini, Cecchini, Danesi, Domenici, Licci, Lucchesi, Magi, Morandi, Rossi, Tarlattini, Zonzi.
- Boveglio: newly added surname: Lazzari.
- Brandeglio: newly added surnames: Bernardi, Franceschi.
New surnames largely relate to the ongoing Domenici surname mapping project in Bagni di Lucca. This historically rooted surname is especially prevalent in Benabbio and Limano, but also appears in San Cassiano di Controne, Boveglio, Brandeglio, and possibly more through marriage, whereby women moved. Approximately 150 more Domenici individuals and relatives will be added to the database throughout the autumn.
- 100+ new family units established, based on new individuals and civil records. The majority represent Domenici family branches from 1735 to 1912, with more family structures to be added in the coming months
- 200+ new source entries, including civil records (births, deaths, and marriages) from 1807 to 1900.
- 200+ new media files, including scans and microfilms of original documents are integrated directly into individual database profiles.
