It’s hard to believe four months have passed since our last check-in in June 2026, but the site has seen a flurry of activity in that time. We’ve published four new deep-dive blog posts, exploring everything from leveraging FamilySearch’s game-changing full-text search and MyHeritage DNA mapping to discovering what famous visitors like Mary Shelley revealed about our Bagni di Lucca ancestors. Alongside these articles, the database has expanded significantly with more than 300 new individuals, featuring the very first entries from brand-new villages in and around Bagni di Lucca, updated family lines, and exciting military insights from personal contributor research.

Database Additions & Updates
- First Entries from New Villages:
- Casabascana: Introducing the first recorded entries for surnames Bartolozzi, Giannini, Marraccini, Lignani, Benvenuti, del Debbio, Magi, Domenici, Massei, and Pacini.
- Crascana: Introducing the first recorded entries for surnames Dinelli, Nuti, Nardi, Calani, Gigli, Bartolozzi,and Fini.
- Vico Pancellorum: Added brand-new entries for the Vitali and Biagioni families.
- Limano: Expanded the Domenici family line, including updated birth dates located using FamilySearch full-text search. Families also include Licci, Bacci and Tarlattini.
- Palleggio: Added a few entries on families: Piccinini, Barsi, Montini.
- Borgo a Mozzano & Stazzema (Lucca): Added a handful of key families as part of an ongoing private research initiative.
- San Cassiano di Controne: Uncovered new family connections via personal correspondence, including new details about two soldiers listed on the local War Memorial. In addition, more details on families with surnames: Lucchesi, Pisani, Illidi, Castelli, Ceneri, Giovannini and Menchini.
